We made an early start, coming back from Wales to avoid the worst of the traffic though central
Wales on Saturday morning. At 04.50 there were Police flashing lights and vehicles on the main road to St Davids and a friendly policeman directing us to go through the back roads to get to
Fishguard. We were amazed at an accident, so early in the morning, usually we are the only ones on the road (until at least 8 am).
Holidays have the effect of steadying you down, forcing you to take a more rational look at the
world. I could cope much more calmly at the traffic on the way back to the Lakes, even a ten
minute stop on the M6 north of Warrington behind everyone squeezing from three lanes into one didn't start the pulses racing.
Back home, and there are so many more tourists, and definately more traffic, the difference is so
noticeable. Still in holiday spirits, being behind a 20 mph vehicle occupants admiring the views
instead of 'getting on', doesn't turn a hair.
My point is, if the government paid everyone in the uk to take a week's holiday, two or three
times a year, the road accident figures would plummit !
Apart from the fact that you'd have to travel by train - as the roads would be snarled up
completely with all the holidaymakers.

Firstly
Welcome to more work for me. The Cam takes roughly three-quarters of an hour to post each day, but I wanted to keep you informed on things going on in and around my bit of lakeland, things that I think are important. This is it: Tone'sWeBlog.
Please don't expect too much at first, but in the coming weeks there will be little snippets which will hopefully keep you in touch, and amuse you.
